HistoryWelcome to Saigon, where tropical climates mingle with Vietnamese culture and French civilization. Xuan Tran spent her childhood in South Vietnam enjoying the cooking of her mother and grandmother. As a young girl, she was interested in the wonderful blend of spices and fresh ingredients that make up the exotic dishes native to her country. As an adult, Xuan learned the techniques of French cooking, yet she always reached back to her childhood for the memory of the every day dishes from her familyˇ¦s kitchen. She soon developed her own style of blending the authentic ingredients of Vietnam with traditional French cuisine. Twelve years ago, Xuan opened her own restaurant, Miss Saigon Cafe, in the heart of the Rice Village in Houston. Using native flavors and spices, Xuan has created a menu filled with selections ranging from a toasted French baguette sandwich with grilled pork to sumptuous fresh fish bathed in a rich spicy minced lemongrass sauce or a sweetened coconut juice blend in caramelized fish sauce. Her crispy fried egg rolls are a delicate balance of chicken and seafood and have become a favorite staple of her long-time customers. Each dish evokes an imaginary trip to a land filled with lush landscapes and beautiful beaches. With its cozy ambience, intimate atmosphere and friendly staff, Miss Saigon Cafe will become a natural choice for your next lunch or dinner destination. |
